Introverts Speaking Up – Fighting Your Fear

Introverts Speaking Up - Fighting Your Fear

This is the story of an introvert. If you are introvert you might know the fact that the most difficult thing for an introvert is to communicate with a new person, a stranger. Introverts are already shy while talking to the faces they are familiar with, imagine what would they feel when they try to communicate with an unfamiliar face. Horrible! Indeed!

If you want to fight a fear you have to confront it, remember what they say, do one thing every day that scares you, this is the only way of fighting with your fears, the fear of the unknown.

Having this in mind I decided one day (thought decision making is also a difficult task for us) that I will talk to the person sitting next to me on the public transport, so I waited for the public transport, get on it, and found an elderly person sitting right next to me, I was eating French fries at that moment, so I thought it would be a great idea to offer that person those French fries in order to initiate a talk.

And I did it.

I gather all my courage, moved my hand in front of him, and asked “Sir, would you like to have some French fries?” And surprisingly I got the answer “No”.

I was sweating literally shivering at that time, but I have decided that today I have to fight my fear; I have to do what I have planned in my mind,

So I again gathering all my strength again I asked him would you like to have some

And again I got a, “No”

But, by that time 50% off my fear was gone, so I asked him again and again and again and finally, he smiled and agreed to have some.

As soon as he got it, he started a conversation, and asked me, about my name and where I am working.

I introduced myself and amazingly found out that that person is working for a company which has a business relationship with my company. And thus we shared our business cards, and above all, we shared smiles and happiness. I was feeling good because firstly I had confronted my fear and secondly giving is the things that make you happy.

So the moral of the story is, when you take a step to fight your fear, you get something amazingly surprising as a result.
